6ix9ine drops his highly anticipated album ‘DUMMY BOY’

Among the controversy surrounding 6ix9ine, he dropped his album on November 27th, 2018. The album hosts 13 tracks and has a run time of 34 minutes. ‘DUMMY BOY‘ has a lot of features, and holds names such as Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Tory Lanez, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Lil Baby, Gunna, DJ SpinKing, TrifeDrew and even Bobby Shmurda. 6ix9ine also tapped into the Latin market and got a feature from Anuel AA for two tracks. There were also some big name producers on the project, such as Scott Storch, Murda Beatz, Tay Keith, CuBeatz, Ronny J, and Boi-1da.

6ix9ine opens the album with the track ‘STOOPID’ which features Bobby Shmurda. People have been waiting for Bobby Shmurda to get out of prison so he could release new music. Even though he still isn’t out, 6ix9ine was smart with getting him on this track. He had voice recordings through phone calls of Bobby rapping that he threw in the song. This was smart on 6ix9ine’s part, because he knew people would get more hype for the album if they saw Bobby Shmurda’s name on the track list.

6ix9ine put up a snippet of a track on Instagram back on November 7th, where he’s lip syncing to a song with super producer Scott Storch playing the piano in the background. This garnered a lot of attention as the beat was really captivating. This was the song ‘KIKA’ featuring Tory Lanez. Scott Storch also produced two other tracks on the album, ‘WAKA’ (Ft. A Boogie Wit da Hoodie) and ‘WONDO’.

6ix9ine showed us a new side to him, where he’s singing in Spanish. On the songs ‘BEBE’ and ‘MALA’, both featuring Anuel AA, 6ix9ine takes a step back from his trademark aggressive style and sings to the audience in a soft voice. This is a side of 6ix9ine I would personally like to hear more of, even though his traditional style is still something I enjoy and am a fan of.

There are two songs from the album with music videos that 6ix9ine has released thus far. Both of these videos can be viewed below.

The music video for ‘TATI’ (Ft. DJ SpinKing)

The music video for FEFE (Ft. Nicki Minaj)

My Top 3 songs from the album are:

1. MALA (Ft. Anuel AA)
2. STOOPID (Ft. Bobby Shmurda)
3. KIKA (Ft. Tory Lanez)

Although there were some tracks on there I was not a fan of, overall the album is a solid piece of work. A lot of tracks that will be in my daily playlist for a long time. ‘DUMMY BOY’ definitely will leave a positive mark in 6ix9ine’s career.
