Pokémon joins the real world with their first ever live-action film titled ‘POKÉMON Detective Pikachu’ – which will star Deadpool lead, Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Pikachu and Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as the main character, Tim.
Based in Ryme City, Tim tries to uncover the disappearance of his father – a private eye – with the assistance of his father’s old partner, Detective Pikachu – a Pokémon that Tim finds himself being able to communicate with.
The choice to have Ryan Reynolds voice Pikachu wouldn’t have been my first choice, nor would have I even considered it an option – however, after watching the trailer, I’m 100% onboard. With the combination of his hilariously sarcastic voice and the awesomeness that is the iconic character, Pikachu – all together, equals to one highly anticipated film of the upcoming year.
Inspired by the Nintendo video game, Detective Pikachu – with his signature brown sleuth hat, Pikachu is brought to life alongside other Pokémon that include Jigglypuff, Bulbasaur, Greninja, Psyduck, Charizard and Mr. Mime. “POKÉMON Detective Pikachu” is already expected to be one of the highest grossing films of 2019.
‘POKÉMON Detective Pikachu’ is set to be released on May 10, 2019.
