J.I.D Shakes Up The World Of Hip-Hop With New Album ‘DiCaprio 2’

The time has finally arrived where we can finally indulge in J.I.D‘s new album ‘DiCaprio 2‘. Earlier this year Cole took to social media telling us J.I.D is the heir to the throne, he also joined him on a banger single, in ‘Off Deez‘. As anticipation was building to this project we noticed he had a roster of heavy hitter on this project. 7 artists are featured on this album, A$AP Ferg, J. Cole, 6LACK, Ella Mai, BJ The Chicago Kid, Method Man & Joey Bada$$.

This album captures your attention right away with the 59 sec. intro, which really builds up your anticipation to dive right in. ‘Slick Talk‘ is the first track where J starts off in a mellow follow over a subtle beat, describing his story and his come up in the lyrics. J.I.D really catches you off guard when he goes in with a harder flow towards the end of the track, automatically displaying how talented he is as an artist. J really proved himself on his individual tracks as expected, with heavy hitters on his features he proved that they just complimented his work instead of making it complete. With all due respect many artists have hits because of who is featured on their tracks but not in this case, J.I.D’s individual talents are second to none. A perfect track to display his talents as an artist is ‘Off Da Zoinkys‘ , where he calls out people prioritizing and hyping up drugs instead of honing their talents. All of this being said his work with other artists on this project is impeccable, with many stand out tracks. ‘Hot Box‘ featuring Method Man & Joey Bada$$ was one of the tracks I was looking forward to hearing. The collaboration between these 3 great talents was even better that I expected, the track was incredibly smooth and the chemistry was very impressive. This album has many different vibes, perfect for different moods and thoughts. ‘Tiiied‘ with 6LACK & Ella Mai was a perfect track for relationship struggles and feels. ‘Hasta Luego’ was a bonus track added to the album and turned out to be the cherry on top of this masterpiece. Holding it’s own on a 14 track project.

This whole album was a great listen, with no track to disappoint or even worth skipping. It was extremely difficult to pick a Top 5 list but with a lot of conflict and knowing this list will change every time I hear this project, I picked 5 stand out tracks I am currently vibing with.

Buddhas Top 5:

  1. Hasta Luego
  2. Tiiied
  3. Slick Talk
  4. Hot Box
  5. Off Deez

Workin Out‘ is an honorable mention on this project. Not to be taken lightly I must say something I usually resent saying but this album is an instant classic, I highly encourage you to dive right in!
