‘lonesome’ by laye

laye Releases Debut Album ‘lonesome

Earlier in the month I put laye as a Canadian to keep on your radar, now the talented musician is rocking out on her debut album ‘lonesome’. This album really highlights laye’s talents as she sings along to different styled beats. She really flexes her confidence by having only one feature on this album in BIA. This album holds 11 tracks with songs we’ve heard before like ‘milk n honey’ and ‘dancing’.

The album does a great job highlighting laye’s unique style, with meaning behind every song. You laye has a variety of sounds that captivate her listeners, this flexibility carries out track to track and sometimes is used on the same track. Her track ‘likefck’ is the perfect example as it starts softly and implodes into a smash mouth single. Her tracks ‘dancing’ & ‘no love lost’ really do have a dark sound to them but can easily take pop charts by storm. Her track with BIA is called ‘boy’ where both artists compliment each other with their talents. BIA even throws in some Spanish rhymes to bring a new dynamic to this tune. Her softer sound with a mello vibe is untouchable, songs like ‘lonely anthem’ & ‘better’ have an intimate reflective sound to them.

It was a great debut album from laye, and really matches the vision she portrays on her social media. It was also awesome how she only used on feature relying on her sound to speak for itself.
