Jayd Ink Reveals An Exploration of Self Through Her New EP, ‘Catching Red Lights’

Toronto-based R&B singer Jayd Ink first captivated our ears with her most recent collaboration with SZA’s Good Days producer Los Hendrix for her ‘Queen St’ single and music video – a mesmerizing vibe flaunting Jayd’s sultry and velvet-like sound. Now, the Canadian songstress makes her return by sharing her new mini EP, ‘Catching Red Lights.’

With ‘Queen St’ taking lead, Jayd offers two new songs from her latest three-track project – ‘Rollin’ and ‘Stuck On Earth.’ Diving in deep within herself, Jayd Ink explores and brings to light her thoughts and feelings, allowing herself to fully pour her soul into this heartfelt project.

“Catching Red Lights is about slowing down and learning to appreciate the moment.”

Penned during the pandemic, the mini EP became an outlet for the Toronto-native to reflect on herself and hone her vocal and writing skills. “Catching Red Lights is about slowing down and learning to appreciate the moment,” shares Jayd on her new project in a statement to XMPL. “During the lockdown I took the time to sit with myself, dive deeper into my thoughts, my fears and my overall wellbeing. It was a lot of reflection. These three songs are a combination of how I was feeling during that time.”

Featuring production credits from Los Hendrix (Queen Street), Micah (Stuck On Earth), Txpski and K-Notes (Rollin), ‘Catching Red Lights’ makes for a great and relaxing close out to the summer. Already acclaimed by renowned outlets such as Wonderland, Earmilk, CBC and more, Jayd Ink cements herself as one to watch in our current Northern R&B landscape with this new project.
