The 6ix won in 6ix… and Canada just produced 6ix draft picks
This year’s draft has been exceptionally eventful, and among all the new school soon-to-be greats taking the main stage, is another record broken for Canada with a record number of Canadians being selected in NBA history
The list includes RJ Barrett, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Brandon Clarke, Mfiondu Kabengele, Ignas Brazdeikis, and Marial Shayok.
Although these young guys have got some big shoes to fill, some of our Canadian hopefuls some coincidental domestic family ties they can call up for some insightful guidance. Among those is Nickeil Alexander-Walker, a Mississauga native and cousin of fellow canadian Shai Gigleous Alexander of The LA Clippers who was part of the 2018 draft class, touting 2 Canadians (Justin Jackson, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander).
Another special pick goes out to the Godson Hall of Fame guard, Steve Nash.
Following our huge dub against the Golden State Warriors, I think it’s safe to say that this year has been the best year yet to be Canadian. While the ball is in our court why not take a second to reflect with my list of Canada’s most memorable draft picks:
- Steve Nash
- Andrew Wiggins
- Tristan Kardashian
- Jamal Murray
- Shai Giglious Alexander
- Kelly Olynyk
- Tyler Ennis
- Nik Stauskas
- Cory Joseph
- Anthony Bennett
