Ghanian-Canadian singer, Luna Elle has released her new single ‘Crazy’ – broadening her sound through South Africa’s latest cultural export, amapiano – a recently emerged style of house music, mixing deep house, jazz, disco and lounge music.
Following her debut EP, L.O.V.E (Loss Of Valuable Energy), the Mississauga-bred singer found herself drawing the attention of NBA legend and electronic music producer Shaquille O’Neal as well as Canadian R&B singer Ali Gatie with her debut project. Now, Luna Elle keeps the waves moving with her latest “crazy” amapiano release, enlisting producers – the UK based DJ Kwamzy and Durban, and South Africa-based TonicMotion.
Influenced by R&B legends such as Brandy, Toni Braxton, Jazmine Sullivan, and Beyoncé – the 17-year old singer expands on her artistry through amapiano. In a statement to XMPL, Luna shares that “When you’re listening to amapiano, you’re not really thinking about things. You’re thinking about the beat, you’re thinking about how good the song feels. You’re not thinking about what happened today or what you’re going through at that moment.”
With Luna Elle’s new song and amapiano debut, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the R&B newcomer as she might just be the next Northern teen singing sensation.
