Lights makes history as the very first Canadian artist to be honoured with the Billboard Visionary Award at the Billboard Canada Women In Music annual event which recognizes inspiring women who have made significant contributions to the music industry.
This year marks the first year where the award will be presented in Canada. The Billboard Visionary Award has been previously awarded to artists such as Lana Del Rey and Maren Morris.
Billboard Canada has also announced that The Beaches will be honoured with the Women Of The Year award and will be announcing more of this year’s winners in the coming weeks leading up to the gala.
“For nearly 20 years, Lights has redefined what it means to be an artist — blazing across genres from pop to EDM to alt-rock, writing form-blending comics and collaborating with some of the biggest artists across the world,” shared Billboard Canada in an Instagram post on September 9th. “With hundreds of millions of streams and a career built on bold creativity, she has proven herself as a true visionary in Canadian music.”
Lights is set to receive the award on October 1st, 2025 at the Billboard Canada Women In Music Gala hosted at Rebel in Toronto, ON. Congratulations Lights!
